Students ability to learn is affected by a number of factors. Do students feel safe at school? Are their classes overcrowded? Are students coming to school? Are they disciplined fairly and equitably? School climate has also become a federal issue. Under the No Child Left Behind Act, states are required to publicly report on school violence and drug-related offences. The questions you should be asking help you to look at your school to determine if your climate is conducive to student success
Note: The measures that appear in this guide feature at least national and comparable state data. We provide suggestions for finding other data at the local level that also represent good measures of success.
