Students benefit most by being in classes with qualified and attentive teachers. These questions you should be asking help you look at the qualifications of teachers in your school and the number of students they are responsible for. The measures contained within each question help you compare your school to others to gain a sense of how your school is doing in these areas.
Note: The measures that appear in this guide feature at least national and comparable state data. We provide suggestions for finding other data at the local level that also represent good measures of success.
Questions you should be asking
What is our average class size?
Is each one of our teachers knowledgeable in the subject they teach?
Is there data on the number of teachers highly qualified under the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB)?
